Ongoing Call for Credit Rating Research Proposals

We are pleased to invite applications for grants to support the research and development of credit rating methodologies. The intent of these grants is to develop, refine and study credit rating methodologies for exchange listed firms, in order to bring in new ideas and spur research in this vital area of the financial world. Applications are open to both NUS and external researchers.

All grants awarded will include access to RMI's database of over 90,000 listed firms in all major exchanges world-wide. The data on the firms include comprehensive financial statement data, equity data and any credit events that occur. The database can be accessed and used at NUS, and grants may include financial support for travel to Singapore for a short or long visit.

Researchers retain the right to use and publish the methods they develop as they see fit. RMI retains the right to use the methods in full or in part in our rating activities. This may include the use of the methodology in the daily update of results on our web portal and/or publication of findings and results in the "Global Credit Review", a periodic report published by RMI. Any usage will be attributed to the contributing researchers.

To apply for a grant, please send the following to Ms. Chris Long - chris.long@nus.edu.sg or send a fax - +65 6874 5430:

  ·  A completed form - "Application for credit rating research grant from NUS-RMI".
  ·  CVs of the proposed team members.
  ·  A brief write-up (1-2 pages) on your proposed approach to credit ratings and/or related studies.
  ·  A budget proposal for the grant.

Applications are welcome at any time. For grants requesting a longer visit to RMI (two weeks or more), applications must arrive at least two months before the proposed start date for a research team.

The daily output from our existing model can be viewed through this website: www.rmicri.org. Models will continually evolve and improve, and the intention of these grants is to open up the development to a broadly based research community.

For enquiries on applications, contact Dr. Oliver Chen - ochen@nus.edu.sg.
